1: Can a unit Evade more than once in a turn?
2: Can a unit Battle Back more than once in a turn?

Yes to both of those questions.

Should circumstances work out that way they can evade one battle and then evade a different battle.

A unit may battle back against every battle made against it - as long as the usual battle back conditions are met.

OMG! Not again! I've been thinking that a unit can battle back only once per turn. The 3rd edition rules state on page 7, paragraph "9. BATTLE" second bullet ... "A unit may normally battle only once per turn"

Doesn't this count for battling back too?

Every unit can only battle once per turn (consider it as voluntarily/active battle), but can battle back every time is attacked (consider it as involuntarily/passive battle).
As to say: unit A, B and C can close combat attack unit D (in three different times). If D survives (and remain in place without evading nor retreating) can battle back in total thrice.
In that case unit D could really be devastating for his opponent, because unit D player will conduct 3 attacks during opponent turn!!!
