Line Command Question 1 Year, 6 Months ago Karma: 0
Hello everyone, I purchased this game two days ago and managed my first test game last night.

Everything ran smoothly except for one little query I had concerning a part of the Line Command card:

"The block must be formed from foot units that are all in adjacent linked hexes. "

I know this may be stupid but do these "adjacent linked hexes" need to be side by side (i.e. in a line) or can they be adjacent on any of the hex facings?

Sorry if this seems a bit basic but I just want to get this clear in my head!

Cheers,
Rob

A "line" in CCA is any group of units that each have another unit in at least one of its adjacent hexes therefore the "Line" does NOT have to a straight line in the true sense of the word.
A group forming a triangle or a diamond (square) would qualify as a line for the purposes of this card. Think of it like the "Inspired leadership" cards.

As long as the units to be ordered are ALL foot units (no mounted including a leader on its own in a hex)then the possible arrangements are endless - in arrangement and number!

Presumably when playing Line Command, the Julius Caesar rule still allows a Roman HI or MI with Caesar attached to move 2 hexes and battle, overidding the "may only move 1 hex" limit on the card?

Also, can foot units still move 2 hexes and not battle with this card, but you still get the benefit of moving a group?

Hi Martin, I usually play like this:
Line Command card movement limitation (1 hex only) overtake Julius Caesar move bonus, but only movement bonus.
Julius Caesar unit will only move 1 hex but will be eligible to attack with his own additional dice in CC.

Hi Alessandro
That's interesting as it would result in the units keeping together rather than have Caesar's unit move out ahead 2 hexes, which would be a temptation.

But what about 10th Legion rule which reflects their elite training - would they be limited by the "may only move 1 hex" of Line Command?
